“We did a long process. From 395,000 people, we have reduced it to around 6000. We are going to recruit 4000 plus,” he said.
The Comptroller-General debunked stories in the media that the recruitment process, which commenced in 2019, had been concluded.
He said the NIS had always done its recruitments transparently, denying the claims that the recruitment process was skewed to favour a section of the country.
“I saw a story on the media saying we have done a recruitment and there is inbalance. I saw my State Jigawa and people from other states occupying the slots for the State. This is not true,” Babandede said.
He assured that each local government area of the federation would be represented in the recruitment.
Babandede also disclosed that all backlog of applications for passports have been cleared in line with the directives of the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.
He said the NIS was doing everything posible to tackle corruption in passports application process.
