Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, governor of Jigawa State, has joined other interested presidential hopefuls to run for the position of number one citizen on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He has also obtained the nomination form for N100 million.
During an APC stakeholder meeting at Government House Dutse on Tuesday evening, Governor Badaru was quoted as saying, “I would join the Presidential race because everyone knows I’m a highly competent person for the position.”
During the meeting, the Governor was allegedly said to have told the audience that his colleagues were pressuring him to run for president.
Auwalu Sankara, his media aide, claimed his principal obtained President Muhammadu Buhari’s consent before purchasing the form.

Governor Badaru is now almost the number 12 in the APC seeking to replace Buhari in 2023.
Our correspondent gathered that the decision of the All Progressives Governors Forum to push Governor Badaru to contest for the presidential seat might not be unconnected with the fact that in case southerners pick their candidate from PDP it will pave way for the APC candidate.
Sankara further explained that his boss has the know-how to continue where Buhari stopped.
