The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened an extended strike as the two-month warning strike comes to an end today, Monday.
The union made the announcement on Sunday during a National Executive Council meeting in Abuja.
At the meeting, ASUU accused the Federal Government of being insincere, indicating that it will inform Nigerians of the meeting’s conclusion.
Remember that the union launched a four-week warning strike in February this year, which was extended by eight weeks in March due to the union’s and the Federal Government’s inability to reach an agreement on the demands of university lecturers.

ASUU’s demands include the release of university revitalization funds, the renegotiation and implementation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement, the release of earned allowances for university lecturers, and the deployment of the UTAS payment platform for the payment of university lecturers’ remuneration.
Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment and a presidential contender under the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, said in a statement on Friday that the Federal Government will meet with ASUU on Monday to settle the outstanding concerns.
