War-torn Ukraine woke up with several explosions, as Russian missiles hit Kyiv on Monday, killing at least 8 people while injuring 24 others, a Ukrainian official said.

Presidential Adviser, Mykhailo Podolyak, said, at least 75 Missiles were fired at various cities across Ukraine

Podolyak, who gave the figure on Telegram, said 41 of the missiles were shot down by air defence systems.

He called the rain of missiles that fell on the country “the death twitches of a wounded animal.”

The attacks on the centres of Ukrainian cities had once again shown the “terrorist nature of the Russian regime. The masks have fallen: This is targeted mass killing of civilians and destruction of civilian infrastructure”, he said.

Podolyak added that the struggling Russian army has no idea how to fight on the battlefield, and is, therefore, firing rockets at people.

Traffic on the red line of the Kyiv subway was stopped, as all subway stations are operating as bomb shelters.

Deputy head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, urged the public to “stay in shelters”.

Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelensky, claimed that “Russia is trying to destroy us and wipe us off the face of the Earth with missile attacks”, across the country.

Zelensky said energy infrastructure was among the targets.

He urged residents to take shelter as an air raid alert was in effect across much of the country.
