The Chairman of Enyimba Football Club, Kanu Nwankwo, has strongly condemned the armed robbery attack on the club’s former manager, Anyansi Agwu.
Agwu, who is also the Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), was attacked by suspected armed robbers at his home in Abuja on Tuesday. According to reports, the assailants inflicted injuries on Agwu and made off with his car, phones, and money.
In a statement issued in Aba on Thursday, Kanu described the incident as deeply unfortunate and urged security agencies to track down those responsible for the attack.
While expressing his concerns, Kanu also called for improved security across the nation to enable the growth of football and other social activities in the country.

“I am utterly disturbed by the ugly news of the home attack by armed robbers on my elder brother and a critical football stakeholder,” Kanu said. “It is indeed sad that such an unholy act can befall him at this time when he is contributing to the growth of the nation’s football.”
He continued: “I urge the security agencies to quickly unravel the mystery and bring the perpetrators of this wicked act to book.”
Kanu also shared his well wishes for Agwu’s swift recovery and expressed his hope for the return of his stolen items.
“My thoughts and prayers are with him. I pray for his quick recovery and for God to replace his lost items,” he added.
