Yoruba Fuji musician, Alhaji Taye Adebisi, popularly known as Taye Currency, has publicly declared his Fuji colleague, Wasiu Alabi aka Pasuma, as his boss, while referring to Saheed Osupa as his colleague.

In an interview with Akede Ariya last Thursday, Taye Currency discussed his relationship with both artists and how he met Pasuma. He clarified that while he had never learned Fuji music from Pasuma, his admiration for him was deep, highlighting Pasuma’s humility as one of the key reasons for his respect.

Taye Currency explained that there was no conflict between him and Pasuma, describing their previous disagreements as misunderstandings caused by fan reactions rather than personal animosity.

“I met Pasuma in 1993, and since then we have been together. I didn’t learn Fuji music from him, I just love him because he is a humble person. It’s not that I’m disrespecting him or anything. I wasn’t his drummer or backup singer. We are not fighting; it’s just our fans who are prolonging the issue,” he said.

Addressing his previous comments in which he disapproved of fans calling Pasuma his “father” in the industry, Taye clarified that Pasuma is more like an elder brother to him, and he could never be his father. These remarks had stirred online discussions, with Pasuma’s fans criticising him.

However, in a recent twist, Taye Currency met Pasuma in Mecca during the ongoing Umrah pilgrimage in 2025. In a viral video, he apologised for any offence caused by his earlier remarks and expressed regret.

He reaffirmed Pasuma as his superior, emphasising that he had never insulted him and reiterated his respect for the 56-year-old artist.
