Bomb Blast Kills Travellers in Borno State

An explosive device has claimed the lives of an unspecified number of travellers en route from Kala-Balge to the Gamboru-Ngala Local Government Area in Borno State, reports Punch Online.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Monday when a vehicle travelling from Rann—the administrative centre of Kala-Balge—to Gamboru-Ngala struck an improvised explosive device (IED).

Confirming the incident to Punch Online, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso, stated that efforts are ongoing to gather the necessary details.

“I am aware of the incident. Please bear with me—I will provide further information once I have completed data collection,” he said.

However, local sources reported that eight people were killed in the explosion, with several others sustaining serious injuries.

A local resident, who requested anonymity, said, “Women and children were among the victims. About eight people lost their lives.”
