Founding National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Ralph Nwosu, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of pushing millions of young Nigerians into despair, saying the country has become increasingly hopeless under the current administration.
Nwosu made the remarks on Thursday during the launch of the “Rise Up Naija Media Campaign” at the ADC national secretariat in Abuja.
The ADC chieftain said many Nigerian youths, both at home and in the Diaspora, had lost faith in the country due to worsening economic and social conditions.
“The APC has made this country almost hopeless for Nigerians, especially the young people. We are going to make things right,” Nwosu said.
“There is nothing good that comes without challenges. When you expect challenges, it helps you navigate them better.”
Nwosu has recently been praised by some opposition figures for sustaining the ADC as a platform for coalition politics despite alleged pressure and inducements from the ruling party.
Also speaking at the event, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said political power remains the only force keeping the APC united.
According to him, the ruling party would struggle to survive outside government.
“We are going to get out of the kind of politics we play today, but it depends on what we do going forward,” Abdullahi said.
“Our failure has always been that we never think about what happens to this country after us. We have never thought about the next generation.”
He described the ADC as a party founded on ethics, principles and egalitarian ideals, insisting that its identity transcends individual interests.
Abdullahi added that the party intends to confront insecurity, corruption and poor governance if voted into power in 2027.
“How do we stop APC from returning to power in 2027? How do we end banditry? These are questions we must answer going forward,” he said.
