A 50-year-old man, Wisdom Okoro, has been arrested over the death of his 38-year old girlfriend, identified as Enobong Udoh in Ikorodu area of Lagos.
The police said the suspect was arrested for allegedly administering contraceptive to the deceased before she died.
The police said that the family of the deceased were suspecting that the deceased died as a result of the abortion pill which she took the previous day.
Lagos State Police Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident said Police operatives attached to Ikorodu Division of the command arrested the suspect based on information received.
Adejobi said the suspect, one Wisdom Okoro, 50, who hail from Orlu in Imo State, was accused of the sudden death of his girlfriend, one Enobong Udoh, f, 38, which occurred on April 11, 2021,at 1045am.
“One Blessing Pius, of No 46, Adegboruwa Street, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, was the one who reported the incident to the police.
“The complainant claimed that the deceased was found dead in her house, opposite Meras Hotel, along Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu. The police operatives swung into action and invited her boyfriend for interrogation where he, Wisdom Okoro, confessed that the deceased informed him that she was pregnant in February, 2021 and he was in her house to check on her on 10th April, 2021, at about 5.14pm when the deceased informed him that she had terminated her pregnancy,” added.
Adejobi said the statements and utterances of Wisdom revealed that he has some questions to answer, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu has ordered that he should be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police therefore assured the general public, especially Lagosians, of thorough investigation into the cases for justice to prevail.
