The promoters of the Yourba Nation on Saturday defy the presence of security operatives to hold its rally in Lagos.

They were however resisted by the heavily armed security operatives, who fired teargas and water canon. Some of the protesters were also arrested.

This led to heightened tension in Ojota as people began to run helter-skelter when the police fired teargas canisters.

Security operatives comprising men of the Nigerian Police Force, the Soldiers of Operation MESA in Lagos on Saturday took over the entire stretch of Ojota to prevent the planned Yoruba nation rally.

The security operatives who had earlier embarked on a show of Force on Friday took over the rally venue very early in the morning.

This followed the insistence of the organisers of the rally to go ahead with it after the police had warned that it would not allow the rally.

The security agents took over Ojota from the stretch of MKO Abiola Garden.

No fewer than 20 police vans and five Armoured vehicles were stationed in strategic areas of Ojota from Abiola Gardens down to Ojota Total along Ikorodu Road.
