Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ibrahim Mantu is dead.
Mantu died after nine days of managing suspected COVID-19 infection in isolation.

Mantu was one of the notable figures in the nation’s political landscape for many years.
In 2001 he was elected Deputy Senate President under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a position he held till 2007 when he didn’t return to the senate.
A family source who confirmed the demise said the former deputy senate president died at about 2am on Tuesday, after nine days of sickness and isolation.
The source said the former federal legislator died at the Diff hospital in Abuja, explaining that he (Mantu) fell ill about nine days ago and was receiving treatment at home, until when there was no improvement before he was rushed to the hospital and he eventually passed on.
According to the source, the funeral prayer would be held today in Abuja, and that the family is currently deliberating and making the necessary funeral arrangements.
Mantu, who hails from Gindiri District in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, held several academic qualifications and had worked in various establishments before joining politics.
