Amnesty International Nigeria has condemned the horrific lynching of a female student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto over the alleged blasphemy against the Prophet Mohammed.
The Director of Amnesty International Nigeria, Osai Ojigho in a statement made available to TheLeadng described the act as deplorable.

He said the Nigerian authorities must ensure those responsible for her death are immediately arrested and brought to justice.
TheLeadng had reported that the late student, Deborah was seen in a video been lynched by an angry mob in front of her school.
The statement added: “The trending video of her death shows the female student repeatedly being beaten and stoned
in front of the school security post before tires were placed on her.
“A second video shows her attackers clearly boasting about her death and the matches they used in setting her ablaze.
“The Nigerian authorities must curtail the impunity that has led to an increase in mob violence and arrest all those involved in this reprehensible act.
“A prompt, thorough, independent,
impartial and effective investigation must also be launched on all cases of mob killings.”
Recall on 30 March 2021, Talle Mai Ruwa a popular water vendor was beaten and burnt to death in the presence of his mother at Sade village in Darazo Local Government of Bauchi state on alleged blasphemy after the angry mob overran the Community police station where he was being detained.
Isma’ila Sani Isah remains in custody after the youths in the state held a protest at the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto in July 2021 calling for the arrest and death of the young man for allegedly posting a blasphemous comment on his Facebook page.
