Cardinal Robert Prevost has been selected as the new Pope, succeeding Pope Francis, following two days of voting inside the Sistine Chapel.
Prevost, now the 267th Pope, will assume the papal name Pope Leo XIV, taking on the role as the spiritual leader of Catholics worldwide.

His election was confirmed after Cardinal Mamberti declared “Habemus papam!”—meaning “We have a Pope!”—from the loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica.
