Governor Seyi Makinde has formally approved the appointment of a new Alaafin of Oyo.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, revealed that after thorough consultations and divinations, Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade has been recommended by the Oyomesi and subsequently approved by the Governor of Oyo State.
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, issued a statement confirming this development, which he said puts an end to the socio-legal disputes that followed the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, on 22nd April 2022.

Hon. Ademola Ojo called on all citizens of Oyo State to join the Government in celebrating this significant occasion and to offer their support to the newly appointed Alaafin of Oyo.
The Commissioner expressed his hope that the reign of the new Alaafin would bring peace, prosperity, and unity to the historic Oyo Kingdom.
