Buhari Confers Excellence Service Awards On Ex-President Jonathan, Wike, Others

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, conferred Awards of Excellence Services on former president Goodluck Jonathan, as well as Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, and 42 other prominent Nigerians.

The event, which took place in the Conference room of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, saw 16 state governors, including Wike, being honoured with the Excellence Public Service Award.

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and service chiefs were also honoured with various awards for their services.

Another recipient of the Excellence Public Service Award was the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Simbi Kesiye Wabote.

Wabote received the award for the outstanding strides he accomplished, particularly in human and infrastructural capacity development since he was appointed as the helmsman of NCDMB in September 2016, as well as his reappointment in 2020.

The Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service was set up to recognise distinguished public service to Nigeria, either contributions to individuals, state or local community, or the public through excellence in leadership, service, or humanitarianism.

To be eligible, the recipient must be a living Public Official or a private citizen excelling consistently in a given sphere of influence, in good character standing, and must also be at the forefront of service and innovation.
