President General Muhammadu Buhari may soon sign into law, the Nigerian Start-up Bill passed by the National Assembly.

This was disclosed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital Transformation, Oswald Guobadia in Abuja, on Tuesday.

Guobadia noted that no fewer than 10 states of the federation have indicated an interest in adopting the bill if assented to by the President.

He noted that the bill was poised to help increase the value of creatives and foster Nigerian youths’ dominance in the economic environment.

“We have a large number, a huge population of young people in our country, and they are very talented and very creative.

“What we must do is create an enabling environment for them to thrive, be successful, in fact, for them to dominate.” He said.

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group and the Policy Innovation Centre have also called for a public-private sector collaboration to achieve digital transformation in every sector of the country.

The groups noted that such collaboration will boost economic dominance and digital transformation.

The Deputy Director, PIC and senior fellow of the NESG, Dr Osasuyi Dirisu, said there must be a collaboration between the public and private sectors for the Nigerian economy to thrive.

She noted that the co-creation workshop was staged to interface with various stakeholders in the digital transformation chain on fostering and facilitating public-private sectors dialogue, adding that the major target for the project is the public institutions that need to be kept abreast with the digital tools required to intensify effective operations in the public sector.

“We found out that digital tools are critical to development because across different sectors you have to use digital tools to scale your investments, to improve your reach, improve your target, improve access and generally improve outcomes for your business.” She said.

She also noted that Persons With Disabilities, women, youths and other vulnerable groups of people in the country would not be left out in the digital project. This was as she pointed out the viability and impact of the digital economy on agriculture.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Elections Debates Group and the NESG have organised a presidential debate on economic policy, slated for November 15.

All major contenders, Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Omoyele Sowore, Peter Obi, and others seeking to be Nigeria’s President, are expected to converge on Tuesday, November 15 for the debate.
