Alhaji Bukar Kime, Chairman, Yobe Pilgrims Commission, said on Monday that all 2021 Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia must show evidence of receiving first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccination.

Kime who spoke in Damaturu said that the pilgrims must also adhere strictly to all COVID-19 protocols.

He cautioned intending pilgrims against rumours on the conduct of the exercise, advising them to await the National Hajj Commission (NAHCOM) guidelines which would be released soon.

“ NAHCOM has neither released the total number of seats to be allocated to Yobe State nor the Hajj fare for each intending pilgrim.

“ Therefore, I am calling on intending pilgrims to exercise patience and avoid hearsay,” the chairman said.

Kime, however, said intending pilgrims were free to deposit amounts of money of their choice with the commission and wait for the official announcement of the actual hajj fare by NAHCOM.

He also advised the intending pilgrims to ensure they attended the ongoing orientation at the commission to learn more on how to perform the pilgrimage.
