Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti State, has dismissed reports suggesting he has left the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his commitment to the party.

In a statement titled ‘Nothing Has Changed’, Fayemi clarified that he remains a founding member of the APC and has not defected, contrary to media speculation.

Reacting on his X (formerly Twitter) platform, Fayemi wrote, “My attention has been drawn to a story circulating on several online platforms regarding my defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“As I have stated in the past, I am a card-carrying foundation member of the APC, and this position has not changed.”

While affirming his loyalty to the party, Fayemi also highlighted his ongoing advocacy for greater internal democracy and inclusivity within the APC.

“Although I have consistently called for greater internal democracy and inclusion in the ruling party, I believe it is not too late for us to change course and embrace a more inclusive and democratic approach,” he added.

Fayemi’s comments come amid growing speculation about internal divisions within the APC. Despite these rumours, his statement underscores his continued commitment to the party’s progress and his desire for reform from within.
