Timileyin Ajayi, a 32-year-old gospel singer, has confessed to the brutal murder of 24-year-old Salome Eleojo Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Ajayi was arrested after attempting to dispose of the victim’s severed head, which was still dripping with blood, in a river.

In a shocking interview with Channels TV, Ajayi revealed that the murder was not premeditated, but was the result of an intense emotional outburst triggered by his discovery of Salome’s infidelity.

He explained that after reading her messages with other men, he felt betrayed and decided to take violent action.

“I killed her because we didn’t always see eye to eye,” Ajayi said. “It wasn’t planned. It just happened on that day. I didn’t have it in mind until I saw what she was hiding from me – her chats with other guys. That’s why I did it.”

When asked if he regretted the murder, Ajayi’s response stunned many. “I don’t have any regrets,” he stated firmly. “Life is reciprocal. That’s how I see things. If you’re going to do something to someone, you have to understand what they’re going through. You have to put yourself in their position. That’s why I don’t regret it – we were compatible.”

Ajayi’s chilling admission came after his arrest while he was attempting to disposed the body of the lady, who until her life was tragically cut short, was a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja.

The 24-year-old graduate of Library and Information Science from Kogi State University had told her family she was going to visit a friend. However, her pictures went viral after Timileyin was arrested with a human head dripping with blood.

Salome was murdered when she visited Ajayi at his home in New Karshi, located in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The suspect had taken a bike ride from Karshi to Orozo, intending to dispose of the head, before he was apprehended.

The church’s Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, Caleb Umaru, explained that a church member had noticed Ajayi acting suspiciously near a river.

Umaru was quoted as saying: “It was just before the end of the service, around 11 a.m., during the final pledge and prayers. A church member, Brother Victor, opened his eyes during the prayers and noticed someone walking suspiciously by the river near the church, carrying a bag. His movements caught Victor’s attention, prompting him to call over Brother Amos to take notice as well.

“When they saw him, he threw a black nylon bag into the river. When they enquired what he had thrown into the river, he denied it. After refusing to answer their questions, they left him and returned, but they didn’t go back into the church.”

Umaru disclosed that the suspect attempted to flee after he was repeatedly asked to open the bag. He was chased down and apprehended in a nearby farm area, just before the police arrived and took him into custody.

Ajayi, 32, is currently detained at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia, the state capital.

On Tuesday, the police paraded him alongside the knife and machetes he used to commit the crime.
