Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged residents to remain calm and unshaken, insisting that peace and stability in the state are firmly anchored in faith, restraint and responsible leadership.
The governor spoke on Sunday at a special Inter Denominational Church Service held to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day at St Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt. His message was direct and reassuring: there is no need for fear or agitation when leadership is grounded in God.
Fubara said his calm disposition amid political tensions flows from a deep trust in divine authority, which, according to him, provides confidence and strength in difficult moments.
“I know what I have. I know that I have what is supreme, and that is God,” the governor said. “So I want everyone to be relaxed. What is important is peace for this dear state, and we will get it by the special name of God.”

He assured Rivers people that the overriding focus of his administration is the entrenchment of lasting peace, stressing that progress can only thrive in an atmosphere free of fear and instability. According to him, faith driven leadership remains central to sustaining unity and development across the state.
Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, reinforced the message in her remarks, drawing attention to the sermon’s core lesson that individuals are ultimately remembered not by position but by impact.
She paid glowing tribute to fallen heroes and heroines of the Armed Forces, as well as veterans in attendance, describing their sacrifices as priceless to the survival of the nation.
Odu also appealed to residents to continue to uphold the state leadership in prayers, noting that spiritual support has been critical to the administration’s resilience.
“As we have come today to pray for legionnaires, for the wives of fallen heroes and the husbands of fallen heroines, please continue to uphold the government of Sir Siminalayi Fubara and my humble self in prayers,” she said. “Prayers have sustained us so far, and we believe they will continue to sustain us.”
The sermon was delivered by the Most Reverend Blessing Enyindah, Archbishop of the Niger Delta Province and Bishop of the Ikwerre Diocese. Titled Only Remembered by What We Have Done and drawn from Judges 5:1 to 10, the message challenged leaders and citizens to build legacies rooted in service, justice and faith.
Archbishop Enyindah commended Governor Fubara for his consistent support for the Armed Forces and urged Nigerians to use their positions and resources to promote peace and love.

“When we serve God with our hearts and light, we shall be remembered,” he said. “What shall you be remembered for?”
The service featured intercessory prayers for the Armed Forces of Nigeria, veterans and families of fallen heroes, alongside prayers for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Fubara, the Rivers State Executive Council and the nation.
Beyond ceremony, the gathering served as a symbolic moment of reassurance, projecting an image of calm leadership and underscoring the administration’s message that peace in Rivers State remains non negotiable.
