The Jigawa State Government has significantly increased its budget for the 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme, raising the amount from N2.83 billion in 2024 to N4.8 billion this year. This decision aims to provide enhanced support to vulnerable residents during the holy month.
Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sagir Musa, made the announcement following the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Dutse on Monday night. He explained that the programme will be jointly funded by the state and local governments, with the state contributing 55% and local governments covering the remaining 45%.
Musa revealed that the number of feeding centres will increase from 609 in 2024 to 630 in 2025, each serving three meals a day, including kunu, kosai, and jollof rice, with provisions for 300 beneficiaries per centre.

The programme is expected to reach approximately 3.8 million vulnerable individuals throughout the Ramadan period, with a focus on alleviating hardship caused by rising food costs.
In addition to the expanded feeding programme, the council approved the revitalisation of 114 ward-level Primary Health Care Centres across the state, with a project value of N9.7 billion. The initiative, supported by the World Bank’s Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress programme, aims to improve healthcare services and further the government’s commitment to Universal Health Care coverage.
Musa emphasised that the revitalisation project reflects the government’s dedication to improving the well-being of Jigawa residents.
