Former lawmaker Shehu Sani has expressed concern over the escalating controversy between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a statement on his X handle, Sani called it “unfortunate” that the issue, which initially involved seat reassignments in the Senate, has now spiraled into a matter of sexual harassment, referring to it as being about “bed.”
The controversy began when Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of blocking her motions on the Senate floor in retaliation for her refusal to yield to his alleged sexual advances.

Akpabio has denied these allegations through his media consultant, Kenny Okulogbo.
Sani, in his remarks, urged caution and restraint in the handling of the situation, highlighting that the dispute should not distract from the Senate’s important legislative duties. His comments reflect growing concerns over the impact of such personal disputes on the integrity of Nigeria’s legislative body.
