The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called for an independent investigation into the altercation between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur Muhammad Baba, and made available to newsmen in Kaduna.
The statement also addressed the allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation made by the embattled Senator Natasha, which have continued to make headlines and become a central topic of public discourse.
“Inevitably, many individuals and groups have voiced strong opinions on the matter. Even Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s husband has been forced to publicly comment, and such public interventions have the potential to tarnish the reputation of a body entrusted with making laws for Nigeria,” the statement read.

The ACF added, “As it stands, the allegations are having a significant negative impact on the national and international public image of Nigeria’s Senate.”
The statement continued: “While the saga continues, the interests of the people of Kogi Central are not being adequately represented in the 10th Senate.”
The ACF expressed concern over the situation, suggesting that this may be part of a broader anti-Northern agenda in Nigerian politics. “It seems that, to date, only Senators from the North have faced heavy sanctions, such as suspensions, in the 10th Senate. ACF wonders if these unfolding events are part of a pattern or simply cruel coincidences.”
The statement further noted: “To put it mildly, the public image of the leadership of the 10th Senate is now far from inspiring.”
The ACF called for the issue to be resolved quickly and for an independent, open, transparent, and thorough investigation to be conducted without fear, favour, or external interference.
*“This is essential to allow the Senate to return to its core function of lawmaking for Nigeria, especially at a time when citizens are facing dire living conditions due to the impact of public policies on lives and livelihoods,” the statement emphasised.
The ACF also urged the Northern Caucus in the 10th Senate to support Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan in ensuring she receives a fair hearing and is treated with the respect she deserves in the affairs of the Senate.
