Nigeria records 869 new COVID-19 cases, eight deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control says it has recorded 869 new cases of COVID-19 across 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The agency made this known via its verified Twitter handle @NCDCgov in the early hours of Thursday.

It gave the details, in descending order, as follows: Lagos-229; Rivers-79; Taraba-73; Oyo-66; Ogun-60; FCT-58; Plateau-56; and Kwara-38.

Others are: Ondo-38; Osun-24; Kano-22; Nasarawa-21; Abia-19; Edo-19; Akwa Ibom-19; Cross River-10; Delta-nine; Benue-eight; Ekiti-six; Borno-six; Katsina-four; Bauchi-three; Bayelsa-one and Zamfara-one.

NCDC says Lagos State reported 377 community recoveries, while Plateau State reported 70 and Benue recorded 28.

It noted that the data from Taraba State was reported over the last three days, totalling 73 in all.

“A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre activated at Level 3 continues to coordinate the national response activities,” NCDC said, adding that, “Till date, 149,369 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed throughout the country, 125,722 cases have been treated and discharged, and 1,787 deaths recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
