Nigerian tweeps have taken to the internet space to react to Wizkid not winning any Grammy award after having two nominations.

The singer and songwriter was nominated in the Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performances categories of which he lost both to Beninese singer and songwriter, Angelique Kidjo, and Pakistani composer, Arooj Aftab, respectively.

Wizkid was nominated alongside Nigerian artists like Burnaboy, Femi Kuti, Made Kuti, and Tems.

However, Nigerian Twitter users have taken to the internet space to express their opinions towards the Grammy loss.

A user of the social media application, @_theladymo said, “Wizkid Fc for life!!! Proud when we win, Loyal when we lose.”(sic)

The Twitter user, @danielregha said, “Wizkid lost an ordinary Grammy, Nigerians are pissed but same y’all couldn’t celebrate Davido’s feature in the 2022 FIFA WC soundtrack cos of hate; Jokers. That WC feature is bigger than winning Grammys but y’all don’t know cos chasing validation has clouded ur senses. No offence.”(sic)

Another user of the microblogging site, @drolufunmilayo opined, “Wizkid lost both Grammy awards. Arooj Aftab won best global music performance. And evergreen music monster Angelique Kidjo won best global music album. WizkidFC brace up and stay strong. There will be more years and awards. God bless @wizkidayo He remains a legend in the game.”(sic)

Also, @bigdice01 believes that there is a lesson for Wizkid to learn as he did not take home the plaque. He tweeted, “This whole Wizkid not winning #GRAMMYs is a wake-up call sha, We are divided in this industry, na hypocrites full here.. Some of you were waiting for Wizkid to win so You’ll Drag and ridicule Davido, but the ways of God are not the ways of Man.. now see how the table turn.”(sic)

Moreso, @its_joyce said, “Truth is no one is 💯 happy wizkid lost. But, the tears of FC and other stup*d celebrities that downplayed Davido’s win is what people are really celebrating! We need to be happy for each other first before we can cry for each other.”(sic)

@brume said, “We have to protect Afrobeats and forget about the western validation these white men have always wanted what we have. They’ve always taken from us. We have the Power to be the leading force. This new generation has to be different.”(sic)
