The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NIMET has predicted heavy rainfall in some parts of the country from Tuesday to Thursday.
The Agency said in the next three days, there would be heavy rainfall over Southern Kebbi, western Niger, northern Katsina, eastern Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, western Yobe, Gombe, Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarawa, eastern FCT and Kwara State from Tuesday to Thursday on 17th, 18th and 19th August 2021 respectively.

The forecast was contained in the Impact-Based Weather Forecast released on Monday.
Our correspondent further gathered that the development might also have effect on smooth flight operations across the country.
NiMet said there are chances of moderate to heavy rainfall over parts of Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Benue, Ebonyi, Sokoto, Ekiti, Edo, Kogi, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ondo, Lagos, Delta and Bayelsa State within the period.
However, light rains are expected over the rest of the country, the forecast said.
In the area of where heavy rainfall is predicted, the agency said “there are increased chances of flashflood events on roads, settlements, farmlands and bridges which can disrupt vehicular traffic and reduce visibility.”
It however advised members of the public “to exercise restraint when going out, keep monitoring the situation, avoid low-lying areas and fast flowing runoff waters.”
The forecast added, “Also, there are chances of moderate to heavy rainfall events especially during the first and the third days which can reduce horizontal visibility, increasing the likelihood of cars skidding off the road and chances of car crashes, and likely delays in flight operations. Hence, the public is advised to be prepared for these events to avoid damages from rain-related hazard.”
A downpour in Lagos recently resulted in many parts of the state being flooded with many cars submerged across the state while many residents were displaced.
