There is no clarity yet on when a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, may take place, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

“The conversation is not scheduled; there is no agreement or understanding on this matter yet,” Ryabkov said on Monday.

He also noted that Moscow has not yet established direct contact with the new U.S. administration and that no steps have been taken to do so.

Ryabkov commented on the possibility of a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the upcoming G20 summit but refrained from speculating on how events would unfold.

On the matter of strategic stability talks, Russia has made it clear that it will not withdraw or cancel its conditions for resuming dialogue with the United States.

“The president said what he said. He did not say that we are canceling everything that we have repeatedly communicated to the U.S. side,” Ryabkov told reporters.

He added that Russia is open to dialogue on strategic stability, provided the U.S. makes positive changes to its policy.
