Nottingham Forest have sparked surprise Premier League title hopes after securing a sixth consecutive victory with a 3-0 win at Wolves.

A fantastic season under Nuno Espírito Santo continued at Molineux, with first-half goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood, followed by a late strike from Taiwo Awoniyi.

The result marked the first time Forest had won six top-flight matches in a row since 1979, during the reign of legendary manager Brian Clough.

Nuno could be on the brink of replicating the success Clough once enjoyed as Forest moved to within six points of league leaders Liverpool, who will visit the City Ground next week for a thrilling encounter.

It was a particularly sweet night for former Wolves player Gibbs-White and Callum Hudson-Odoi, both of whom impressed in front of England manager Thomas Tuchel. Gibbs-White opened the scoring early, while Hudson-Odoi provided a goal and an assist.

Gibbs-White’s seventh-minute strike came after a rapid counter-attack, while Wood netted his 12th goal of the season just before half-time. Awoniyi wrapped things up with a third goal during stoppage time after a swift counter.

The game also marked Forest’s ninth clean sheet in 20 Premier League matches this season, a record that surpasses any other team in the league. Goalkeeper Sels played a key role, making crucial saves to keep Wolves at bay and ensure his team maintained their unbeaten run.

Wolves, who were missing star forward Matheus Cunha, remain in a precarious position at the bottom of the table. This defeat under new manager Vítor Pereira was their first under his guidance, with missed opportunities in the first half proving costly.
