The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting that Miss Ebunoluwa Fatoyinbo, the complainant in a recent sexual assault case, is related to the family of President Bola Tinubu.

This clarification follows widespread online speculation alleging that Fatoyinbo is the sister of Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son.

The reports claimed she was sexually assaulted by one Oscar Ilochi while exercising alone in the basement of a gym, prompting police involvement and a review of the gym’s CCTV footage.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that an investigation is indeed underway following a formal complaint lodged by Miss Fatoyinbo.

However, she stressed that no familial connection between Fatoyinbo and the Tinubu family has been established.

“The FCT Police Command is aware of a publication circulating on social media alleging that the Command has commenced an investigation into a case of sexual assault involving Miss Ebunoluwa, purportedly described as the sister of Mr Seyi Tinubu, son of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” the statement read.

“The Command wishes to clarify that a formal complaint of sexual assault was indeed lodged by Miss Ebunoluwa Mitchell Fatoyinbo against one Oscar Ilochi, a resident of Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja.”

Adeh urged the public, including media outlets and social media users, to exercise caution and verify facts before disseminating information. She also encouraged reliance on official police communication channels for accurate updates on the investigation.
