In a remarkable display of teamwork and precision, police operatives from the Ogun State Command have successfully neutralized the kidnappers of Mrs. Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu, and rescued her unharmed.
On January 16, 2025, four masked gunmen abducted Mrs. Odumosu from her Lexus Jeep outside her residence in Arepo, Ogun State, at approximately 9:45 PM.
This brazen act of kidnapping prompted a swift and coordinated response from the Ogun State Police Command’s anti-kidnapping unit, who launched an immediate investigation and manhunt for the perpetrators.
Utilizing technical intelligence from Force Headquarters and conducting extensive surveillance of the surrounding creeks near Arepo, the police gathered vital information to track down the criminals.

Their efforts culminated in a well-executed raid on January 23, 2025, at around 6:45 AM in the swampy Ikorodu area, where the kidnappers had planned their next attack.
Upon the police’s arrival, the kidnappers opened fire. In the ensuing gunfight, two of the assailants were neutralized, while four others fled, abandoning their weapons. Mrs. Odumosu was safely rescued from the swampy terrain during the operation, unharmed. She is currently undergoing a medical evaluation as a precaution and has been reunited with her family.
The police also recovered a significant cache of weaponry, including 4 AK-47 rifles, 3 locally-made single barrel rifles, ammunition of various calibers, and the sum of N10,000,000 in ransom money previously demanded by the kidnappers.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, and his operatives for their bravery and professionalism during the successful operation.
