Manchester United have received a £25 million offer for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to CNN, Portugal.

The huge offer is coming from an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia, which also offered the Portugal star a whopping salary.

Ronaldo has told Manchester United he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer and did not report for the team’s pre-season, neither did he travel with them for their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.

The 37-year-old has been linked with Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Roma, and Sporting Lisbon.

But Manchester United have made it clear they won’t be selling their only top striker this summer, with new boss Erik ten Hag planning on having the forward in his squad.

The major reason for seeking a departure from the club is their lack of Champions League this summer as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner wants to continue winning trophies.

But CNN Portugal reports that Ronaldo has been presented with an enormous offer from Saudi Arabia that would make him the highest-paid player in history.

But this means that he would have to give up European football.

The offer, likely funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, would see Ronaldo earn an absolutely eye-watering €250million (£211m) over two seasons.

That would work out at just over £105m per season in the Saudi Pro League, or £2m per week – over five times what he currently earns at Old Trafford.

The offer is absolutely unprecedented and it would certainly take a salary of that size to convince Ronaldo to walk away from European football while he still believes he can add more titles and accolades to his collection.

Although Manchester United have said they do not want to sell the football icon this summer, there were suggestions that the stance might soften if they were offered a sizeable fee for the former Real Madrid and Juventus goal machine.

The Red Devils were expecting an offer equivalent to the sun of £12.9m up front they paid to Juventus last summer, plus various add-ons which could reach £19.5m.

But the Saudi club are said to have submitted £25m to Manchester United already.

Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes will also get around £17m in the deal.
