Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, says he wants to continue his goalscoring momentum for Napoli after he scored his first career Serie A hat-trick in his fourth consecutive game for the Partenopei who defeated Sassuolo 4-0 on Saturday.
The treble took his tally to eight in 10 games so far this term and he is now the joint top scorer in the Serie A with seven goals from eight league games.
“Congratulations to the team, I am happy to contribute to this win. Of course it is good to have as many goals as this, I want to keep the momentum going,” Osimhen told DAZN.
“This season the coach has given me as much confidence as I can get. I am really happy to rely on him giving me the maximum confidence. I have just returned from five weeks out, which is not easy, and it is important to get really integrated with the team.”
Osimhen was asked to explain the goal celebration, where he seems to draw some letters in the air.
“That signal was for my daughter. Every moment I score or do something good, I do it for her. She is my life now and I am happy to dedicate everything to her.”
The Nigerian, who has scored in all games since he returned from his hamstring injury, needed four minutes to get on the score sheet as he finished off a flick header pass from the in-form Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The deadly duo combined again in the 19th minute, with Osimhen sweeping home a low cross from the Georgian.
Kvaratskhelia then turned from provider to scorer as he finished off a ball from Mario Rui to give Napoli a three-goal lead at half-time.
Osimhen completed his first ever Serie A hat trick by chipping over Andrea Consigli after the keeper came off his line 10 minutes from time.
