Linda De Sousa Abreu, 31, was filmed engaging in sexual activity with an inmate while on duty at HMP Wandsworth in London last year.
She later admitted to misconduct in a public office.
The encounter, which lasted nearly five minutes, was recorded by another inmate and went viral on social media. It prompted staff at HMP Wandsworth to identify De Sousa Abreu, who was subsequently arrested by the Metropolitan Police at Heathrow Airport on 28 June.
She had been attempting to flee the country, planning to board a flight to Madrid, and had called the prison to inform them she would not be returning to work.

On 29 July last year, De Sousa Abreu pleaded guilty to the charge of misconduct in a public office.
At her sentencing on Monday at Isleworth Crown Court, Judge Martin Edmunds KC remarked that De Sousa Abreu “knew that conduct was forbidden, and forbidden for good reason”, describing the offence as “immensely serious”.
He added, “You engaged in sexual activity with a prisoner. That compromised your role as an officer, undermined discipline within the prison, and put fellow officers at increased risk.”
The court heard that De Sousa Abreu had a history of poor mental health and trauma and had consented to the sexual activity with the prisoner on the day of the incident.
The court also heard that she had agreed to allow a second inmate to be present during the act, and to film it while allegedly smoking cannabis.
While De Sousa Abreu “participated with evident enthusiasm”, the judge clarified that she did not consent to the footage being published online. Additionally, she requested the judge to consider two other offences — one involving sexual activity with the prisoner earlier in the day and the other being a separate encounter with him within three to four days of the main offence.
