Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that three key players could miss the upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester City, with injuries to Romeo Lavia, Levi Colwill, and Enzo Fernandez.

Lavia, who was notably absent during Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks due to an ongoing injury. Maresca revealed that further assessment is needed, but it is highly likely that the Belgian midfielder will miss the highly anticipated fixture against his former club, City.

On a more positive note, both Colwill and Fernandez, who also missed the Wolves game, are recovering from minor issues. While Maresca remains hopeful that the duo will be fit to feature, their participation in tomorrow’s match is still dependent on how they respond to today’s training session.

The Blues are also dealing with injury concerns regarding Cole Palmer, who was a doubt for the Wolves game after picking up an ankle knock. However, Maresca confirmed that Palmer is fit and ready to return to action for the Etihad showdown, having played through the pain in the last match.

As Chelsea prepare for their trip to the Etihad, Maresca acknowledges the challenges of facing Manchester City, who have experienced a dip in form but remain formidable opponents. With Lavia almost certainly out and Colwill and Fernandez’s availability still uncertain, the Blues face a tough task in maintaining their momentum against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Despite these setbacks, Maresca remains determined, stating, “We’re going to try to win tomorrow,” and emphasizing that there’s never a “good time” to face City, especially when they’re eager to prove their strength after a rough patch.
