Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage has addressed concerns surrounding a video that appeared to show her “swimming with sharks” after it went viral on social media.
The 44-year-old artist posted the underwater footage to her Instagram story, where she was seen swimming in close proximity to sharks while wearing an oxygen mask. Savage explained that the experience was part of her bucket list.
However, the video quickly raised alarms among fans, many of whom expressed worries about her safety while engaging with the marine creatures.

In a follow-up post, Savage reassured her followers by stating, “The real danger lies within the Nigerian music industry.”
She continued, “Everyone worried about me swimming with sharks, but the ones in this music industry are way more f**king dangerous.”
Her remarks have sparked a wave of speculation online, with many fans questioning what motivated her cryptic comments.
Although she did not provide specific details, her words appear to allude to the fierce and competitive nature of the Nigerian music industry, which is known for its high-stakes environment.
Savage’s comments come amidst an ongoing controversy. In January 2024, the singer made headlines after alleging threats of assault and grievous harm from fellow artist Davido.
She filed a police petition, outlining claims of harassment following an Instagram story she posted on December 23, 2023, which featured Sophia Momodu, Davido’s ex-partner.
In the petition, Savage urged the authorities to hold Davido accountable should anything happen to her or her family.
The situation further escalated when TeeBillz, Savage’s ex-husband, publicly vowed to “teach Davido a lesson” for allegedly disrespecting his family.
Savage’s latest remarks continue to fuel speculation about the tense and at times hostile dynamics within the Nigerian music industry.
