The Federal Government has officially received $52.88 million in assets linked to former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, recovered from the United States.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, made the announcement during a signing ceremony in Abuja on Friday.
According to Fagbemi, $50 million of the recovered funds will be allocated to rural electrification projects through the World Bank, while the remaining $2 million will be used by the International Institute of Justice to bolster the justice system and combat corruption.

In his remarks, US Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, urged the Nigerian Ministry of Justice to ensure effective monitoring and use of the recovered assets, emphasising that they should directly benefit the Nigerian people.
