The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that renowned Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, also known as K1 De Ultimate, will be blacklisted from flying within Nigeria for six months following alleged misconduct at the domestic terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday.

“I must assure the general public that all parties involved will be held accountable,” he said.

“As we speak, the passenger will be blacklisted from flying within Nigeria for the next six months.”

Achimugu emphasised that aviation regulations are global and designed to ensure the safety of all, stressing that no individual will be exempt from accountability.

“We will do everything necessary to uncover the truth. Anyone who requires punishment or sanction will face justice,” he added.

He also revealed that the agency is writing to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police to initiate legal proceedings against the musician.

When asked if Ayinde might be spared prosecution due to his close ties with President Bola Tinubu, Achimugu stated that both the President and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, are committed to upholding the rule of law.

Earlier, the agency suspended the two pilots of the domestic carrier ValueJet.

Achimugu confirmed receiving reports that the pilot “commenced departure procedures from the designated bay without adhering to mandatory pre-departure clearance protocols.”

“This reckless action endangered the safety of ground personnel and other airport users, contravening established civil aviation regulations and international safety standards,” he said.

The NCAA described the incident as one it regards with the utmost seriousness, prompting swift enforcement action against the flight crew.

“Consequently, the Authority has taken immediate enforcement action by suspending the licences of the pilot, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, and the co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba, with immediate effect,” the statement read.

According to the NCAA, the suspensions will remain in place pending the conclusion of a full investigation into the incident.
