Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, has explained why he declined a N30 million donation from Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, during a recent crusade.

Speaking to his congregation on Sunday at the church’s headquarters in Abuja, Enenche stated that the decision was guided by a longstanding commitment to maintaining the ministry’s independence from political and governmental influence.

He clarified that the refusal was not a personal slight against Governor Idris, but rather a continuation of principles he has upheld for over two decades.

He said: “For some people, that may come as a surprise because they don’t know who we are. But for those who do, it’s not surprising at all. That’s how we’ve lived, and that’s what we’ve always stood for.”

Enenche recounted previous instances where he had declined financial gifts and honourariums, including a 2014 pilgrimage to Jerusalem with former President Goodluck Jonathan. On that occasion, he covered his own expenses and declined any reimbursement.

He stressed that accepting funds from governmental sources could compromise his prophetic calling and diminish his capacity to hold leaders accountable.

Maintaining independence, he said, is vital in preserving the freedom to speak the truth without bias or constraint.

The pastor also highlighted the construction of the Dunamis headquarters as evidence of the church’s commitment to self-reliance, noting that the extensive project was completed without any form of government assistance.

“I don’t want to touch a single kobo of government money,” he said.
