The Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, over allegations of multiple rape and other conducts likely to cause a breach of public peace.
Police sources confirmed that Pastor Okafor was formally served an invitation letter through his legal representative and is expected to report to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID, Panti, by 10am on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The invitation follows directives from the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, who ordered a comprehensive investigation into what the police described as “serious criminal allegations”, including capital offences, made against the cleric.

According to the Command, the investigation has already commenced, with the SCID mandated to handle the matter thoroughly, professionally, and without bias. The police stressed that the invitation does not presume guilt but forms part of due process in line with the law.
In a significant move, the Commissioner of Police has also ordered immediate security coverage and protection for alleged victims. The Command urged anyone who may have been affected to come forward and report at the SCID, Panti, assuring them of absolute confidentiality and protection.
The police further appealed to members of the public who may possess credible information or evidence relevant to the case to cooperate with investigators, either through the Police Public Relations Department or by reporting directly to the SCID.
“The identities of victims and witnesses will be adequately protected,” the Command said, adding that no individual would be intimidated or exposed in the course of the investigation.
Reiterating its stance, the Lagos State Police Command said all allegations would be discreetly investigated according to the law, regardless of the status or influence of the individuals involved.
“No sentiment will be allowed to prevail,” the police stated. “Justice must take its full course.”
The development places the case firmly in the public spotlight as investigations begin into allegations that could have far reaching legal and social consequences.
