Mr Mohammed Omadefu, member representing Keana constituency, Nasarawa State House of Assembly has urged the Federal Government to come to the help of victims of a devastating windstorm in the area.
Omadefu said this on Thursday when he paid on the spot assessment visit to the area.
The storm injured 16 people and destroyed no fewer than 1000 houses at Keana, Agaza, Aloshi and environs in Keana Local Government Area (LGA).
“We cannot rely on the state government alone. Unfortunately, the state government cannot do it alone.
“We are appealing to the international community, Federal Government and well to do individuals to intervene by assisting the victims of rainstorm.
“In the next few weeks final year students will begin their examinations. So getting the schools renovated is very necessary,” he said.
He sympathised with the victims of the storm assuring them that relevant agencies would be mobilised to intervene in their matter.
“They will be here to ascertain the level of damages done for necessary action,” he told them.
Also speaking, Mr Sanusi Giza, Executive Chairman, Keana LGA, the incidence also destructed electricity facilities thereby disrupting power supply to the storm-hit areas.
The council boss also appealed to the Federal and State Governments to come to the help of the victims.
On his part, Samuel Mathew of St. John Catholic Church, Aloshi said that the windstorm completely destroyed the church building.
He appealed for support from government and individuals, for the rebuilding of the church.
The windstorm destroyed residential buildings, Central Mosque and a Catholic Church buildings.
Others are, the Aloshi Government Secondary School, the Aloshi, Police outpost and the Government Secondary School Keana, among others.
