“Upon receiving the report, a team from the Police Safer Highway Patrol swiftly responded to the scene, engaged the bandits in a gunfight, and pursued them, forcing the bandits to flee into the forest with gunshot wounds. Some of the stolen cattle were successfully recovered.
“Regrettably, two police officers lost their lives during the encounter.”
Abubakar added that the Commissioner of Police for the state, Bello Sani, had condemned the tragic incident. He prayed for the souls of the deceased officers to rest in peace and for their families to find the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
“The CP also conducted an on-site assessment of the scene, after which he visited the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu-Mera, where he expressed his condolences and briefed him on the efforts of the combined security agencies to combat crime in the area,” the PRO said.
