The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced that the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) will undergo a scheduled maintenance shutdown commencing on 24 May 2025.
In a statement released on Saturday, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Femi Soneye, said the shutdown forms part of a broader maintenance and sustainability assessment initiative designed to enhance the refinery’s operational efficiency and long-term performance.
“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) wishes to inform the general public that the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) will undergo a planned maintenance shutdown,” the statement read.
“This scheduled maintenance and sustainability assessment will commence on 24 May 2025.”
NNPC Ltd confirmed it is working in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the process is smooth, transparent, and effectively executed.
“We are liaising closely with all relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to ensure that maintenance and assessment activities are conducted efficiently and transparently.”
Reaffirming its commitment to national energy security, the company added:
“NNPC Ltd remains unwavering in its dedication to delivering sustainable energy solutions for Nigeria.”
The corporation further noted that ongoing updates will be made available through its official website, media channels, and public communications.
