…Journalists have until November 11 to submit entries as winners emerge December 13

Nestlé Nigeria has opened entries for the sixth edition of its Media Awards, inviting journalists and media professionals across the country to submit outstanding reports on nutrition, agriculture, environmental sustainability, economic development and other issues affecting Nigerians.

The competition, which opened on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, will recognise excellence in journalism across nine categories, with submissions closing on November 11.

The company said the initiative was designed to celebrate journalism that promotes public understanding, encourages informed debate and highlights practical solutions to challenges confronting individuals, communities and businesses.

Since its inception, the Nestlé Media Awards have recognised outstanding reporting in areas aligned with the company’s Creating Shared Value agenda, including nutrition, agriculture, environmental sustainability, youth and women empowerment, and community development.

Speaking on the 2026 edition, Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability at Nestlé Nigeria, Victoria Uwadoka, said the awards would continue to promote responsible journalism and professional excellence.

“Excellence in journalism requires more than telling a compelling story. It demands accuracy, depth, balanced perspectives and a commitment to the public interest,” Uwadoka said.

“These are the qualities we have sought to recognise and encourage through the Nestlé Media Awards. As we invite entries for this year’s edition, we remain committed to recognising the rigour, integrity and thoughtful reporting that distinguish exceptional journalism.”

The nine categories for the 2026 edition are Nutrition and Affordable Food Solutions, Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment and Development, Women Empowerment, Community Development, Finance, Agriculture, Business and Economy Reporting, and Photojournalism.

A major feature of the competition is the Business and Economy Reporting category, introduced in 2025 to broaden the awards beyond stories directly connected to Nestlé’s operations.

Unlike the other eight categories, the Business and Economy Reporting category is open to reports examining Nigeria’s wider business environment, including entrepreneurship, economic policy, access to finance, infrastructure, competitiveness and challenges affecting small and large enterprises.

Nestlé Nigeria explained that entries in this category are not required to focus on the company, allowing journalists to explore broader economic issues and solutions capable of improving the country’s business environment.

However, submissions in the remaining categories must focus on Nestlé Nigeria or Nestlé’s global activities and demonstrate a clear connection to the relevant award theme.

The competition is open to journalists and media professionals working across print, broadcast and digital platforms in Nigeria.

To qualify, entries must have been published between November 1, 2025, and October 30, 2026.

Each applicant is required to submit a link or copy of the published work, a profile of the entrant or media organisation containing at least 100 words, and a 100-word description of the entry.

Participants may submit one entry per category, but the same published work cannot be entered in more than one category.

Entries must be submitted through the official 2026 Nestlé Nigeria Media Awards Entry Form on or before Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

The company said an independent panel of experienced media and industry professionals would assess submissions based on accuracy, balance, depth, originality, relevance and storytelling quality.

Winners will be announced at the 2026 Nestlé Nigeria Media Awards ceremony scheduled for Sunday, December 13, in Lagos.

Nestlé Nigeria said the awards reaffirmed its commitment to recognising journalists whose work contributes to public understanding, responsible reporting and national development.
