…Actress admits her reaction was dismissive, calls for an end to their differences
Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has publicly apologised to her colleague, Laide Bakare, following the controversy generated by her reaction to Bakare’s name during a recent podcast interview.
Badmus, in a statement shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, acknowledged that her conduct during an appearance on Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast could have been interpreted as disrespectful.
The apology followed the circulation of a video clip from the interview in which Badmus made a facial expression after the host mentioned Bakare as one of his favourite actresses.
The reaction attracted widespread attention on social media, with several users criticising Badmus over what they perceived as a dismissive attitude towards her colleague.

Addressing the controversy, Badmus said she had reflected on the incident and recognised that her reaction might have conveyed an unintended message.
“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.
The actress subsequently addressed Bakare directly, expressing her willingness to put their differences behind them.
“Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace, and I genuinely wish you well,” she stated.
Badmus explained that personal growth and maturity had taught her the importance of moving beyond disagreements rather than allowing them to develop into prolonged conflicts.
“We’re all growing, learning and becoming better versions of ourselves. Sometimes maturity is simply knowing when to let go and move forward,” she added.
Concluding her message with an appeal for reconciliation, the actress wrote, “Joo maa binu. No negativity. No grudges. Let love lead and peace reign.”

The public apology has drawn attention to the relationship between the two actresses, whose differences had previously attracted interest among entertainment followers.
Reacting to Badmus’ statement, the podcast host, Isbae U, welcomed the development and jokingly suggested that his interview had become an instrument of reconciliation.
“Let love lead. Na my interview go fix Nigeria in whole. I love you both so much. You both should give me a kiss,” he wrote.
Although Badmus has publicly expressed her desire to end the disagreement, Bakare’s response to the apology was not included in the statement.
