On Tuesday, the Nigerian Army Authority condemned the assassination of two soldiers by IPOB/ESN as cruel and nasty.
According to Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations, the Nigerian Army received information on the gruesome murder of two soldiers, Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Audu M Linus (retired) and Private (Pte) Gloria Matthew, by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network, on Saturday, April 30, 2022. (ESN).
According to him, the soldiers were assassinated while on their way to execute the ceremonial procedures of conjugating their nuptials, as the highly revered and treasured Igbo culture requires.
He added that the dastardly act clearly portends the deep-seated hatred, desperation, and lawlessness with which IPOB/ESN foot soldiers have been unleashing terror on Ndigbo, whom they claimed are on a mission to protect and emancipate, as well as other innocent Nigerians who are resident or transiting the South East.
He stated that the NA would guarantee that the perpetrators of this heinous attack on its employees are held accountable, and he expressed condolences to the victims’ families, relatives, and close acquaintances.
While urging members of the public to provide actionable information that would lead to the arrest of these criminals, he stated that the NA has begun an investigation to uncover and bring the perpetrators to justice.
