Bandits abduct Emir, Provost, others

Bandits have abducted the Emir of Kajuru, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu, at his palace in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The bandits also whisked away 10 other family members of the emir, including women and children.

The grandson of the emir and traditional title holder of Dan Kajuru, Saidu Musa, who confirmed the abduction, said the incident happened around 12:30 am.

The police in Kaduna State also confirmed the abduction.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Muhammad Jalige disclosed that the second class traditional ruler and the other victims were kidnapped at his palace.

The police spokesperson, who did not give details of how the incident happened, said policemen had, however, been mobilised to trail the hoodlums with a view to rescuing the victims.

“We have deployed our men to rescue them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Habibu Mainasara, provost of the College of Arts and Animal Science in Zamafara State, has been abducted.

Mainasara was kidnapped at his official residence in Bakura in the early hours of Sunday.

Details of the incident are still sketchy.

The development comes a few days after bandits killed 40 farmers in a raid on five villages.
