FIFA has fined Nigeria 150,000 Swiss Francs (about 154,128.75 USD) for rowdy fan behavior at the end of the second leg Qatar 2022 World Cup play-off between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana on March 29 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.
There were reports of law and order violations following the ill-fated 1-1 tie, which saw the Black Stars push Nigeria out of the Qatar 2022 competition on the away goals rule.
In a statement, FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee criticized the match’s poor organization for a lack of order and security, saying that there was a “failure to execute existing safety standards and failing to guarantee that law and order are respected.”
Apart from the 150,000 CHF fine, Nigeria will play its next home match without fans.
