Gunmen last night killed the lawmaker representing Shinkafi local government area in Zamfara state House of Assembly, Alhaji Muhammad G Ahmad.
One of his colleagues, Salihu Zurmi said that the lawmaker was killed around 9:00pm along Gusau – Funtua road on his way to Kano.
He was going to Kano to see off his son, who is a student, in a trip to Sudan. The son wanted to catch morning flight at Kano Airport.
The gunmen attacked the lawmaker at Sheme village.
However, the son and the driver were kidnapped.
The deceased who was the chairman house committee on finance and appropriation, was a three-term member of the state assembly. He was a vice chairman of Shinkafi local government and served as secretary in various local government areas of the state.
He was one of the lawmakers that defected to the All Progressives Congres, APC on Tuesday.
