The Presidency on Saturday evening dispelled fears and misconceptions about the safety of the vaccine administered on President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement issued in response to press enquiries, assured all citizens that there were no side effects on President Buhari after the vaccination.

“After he got his jab, the President felt normal and went about doing his job. If there are side effects that follow, we will be open about that but so far there is nothing of a side effect, serious or mild on the President. He is carrying on as normal.

“We hope this will help to send a strong message among the people, especially those grappling with hesitancy about the efficacy and safety of the vaccine,” Garba said in the statement issued after the President took AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

President Buhari and Vice-President Osinbajo, on Saturday, received the COVID-19 vaccine publicly at the Presidential Villa.

President Buhari was vaccinated at 11:51a.m., while Professor Osinbajo took his at 11:57 am.

It was preceded by e-registration of the President and the Vice President and the filling out of their vaccination cards by the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, Faisal Shuaib.
