Lagos building collapse: Death toll rises to 10 – NEMA

On Monday, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said that the death toll from the collapsed three-story structure in the Ebute Metta district had risen to ten.

Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, NEMA’s South-West Zonal Coordinator, confirmed the news to reporters in Lagos.

“Two additional bodies including a four-year-old boy and a female youth corps member recovered, making 10 deaths.

“The number of rescued occupants remains 23, while six males and four females have been so far recovered dead,” Farinloye said.

On Sunday, about 10.56 p.m., a three-story structure on 24 Ibadan Street, Herbert Macaulay Way, Ebute Meta, Lagos, collapsed.

However, rescue activities at the scene of the disaster are still underway in search of inhabitants trapped beneath the wreckage.
